Theft case worked out, accused arrested

REASI, Jan 5: Police have worked out a theft case and arrested the accused besides recovering the stolen items.
The theft had taken place at the shop of Ashok Kumar, son of Late Shanti Saroop, resident of Ward number 5 on the intervening night of 17/18 December. The thieves broke into his shop near Ganesh Mandir and decamped with garlands decorated with currency notes worth Rs 12000/-
A case FIR number 243/2021, under section 457, 380 IPC was registered in this regard and investigations was initiated.
Police team swung into action and rounded up the suspect Rakesh Singh, son of Dhani Ram of Thilloo, presently putting up at Migrant Camp Talwara.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed of committing the theft. On his disclosure, Police team recovered the stolen property, currency notes-garlands and tools used in committing offense.
According to Police, accused Rakesh is apparently a drug addict and a habitual thief of the area, who has earlier remained involved in theft case FIR number 24/2021, under section 379/34 IPC of Police Station Katra.
