Theft case worked out, stolen items recovered

JAMMU, Aug 30: With the arrest of five individuals, Police in Nagrota area of Jammu District claimed today that they have solved a theft case.
A police spokesperson said that on August 29, 2023, Tehsildar Camp Commandant (Relief) Jagti Migrant Colony lodged a written complaint, stating therein theft of 8 lids of septic tanks of Jagti Migrant Colony by unknown thieves.
Acting on the written complaint, a case FIR number 352/2023 under section 379 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started, he said.
During investigation, he said, special teams of Police Station Nagrota led by SDPO Nagrota Akash Kohli assisted by SHO Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Partap Singh and incharge Police Post Jagti, Balbir Raj, rounded up four suspects with the help of CCTV footage and human intelligence.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime, said the police spokesperson, adding that on their disclosure, the stolen lids of septic tanks worth around Rs 40000 were recovered from the possession of a scrap dealer they had sold these lids to.
Accordingly, police arrested all the five people including four thieves and the scrap dealer involved in the theft case. The accused have been identified as Sandeep Thusoo, Akshay Tickoo, both residents of Migrant Colony, Jagti; Danish Shabir of Kamini Market, Nagrota, Abhishek @Abhu of Kandoli Nagrota, and Kesar Singh (scrap dealer) of Khanpur, Nagrota.
“Further investigations in the case are underway,” said the police spokesperson.
