JAMMU, Jan 29: Police in Jammu’s Bakshi Nagar area here claimed to have worked out several theft cases by arresting three individuals and recovering from their possession the stolen properties.
A police official said that acting on a written complaint received from one Rajesh Singh son of Kartar Singh of Mahanpur, Kathua, at present Rehari Colony Jammu, regarding theft of gold jewellery and mobile phone from his room, a case under the relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started.
During investigation, he said, two special teams were constituted by SDPO City West to trace out the accused.
The teams, led by incharge Police Post Sarwal, under the supervision of SHO Bakshi Nagar, with the help of human and technical intelligence, rounded up three suspects, identified as Saddam Hussain of Gurmu, District Doda at present Beli Charana, Zia Farooq of Bhaderwah, District Doda, and Sahil Imtiyaz of Attal Grah Bhaderwah, District Doda, the police official said.
During questioning, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the instant crime and on their disclosure, the stolen jewellery and mobile phones were recovered from their possession, said the police official.
During sustained questioning, the accused further claimed to have committed several other thefts in the area, with FIRs registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, resulting in recovery of the stolen scooties and e-rickshaws from their possession, he said.
Further investigation into all the cases is underway, added the police official.
