RAJOURI, Apr 4: In a bizarre incident, seized contraband substance and drugs including 4 kg heroin, about 1.5 kg charas, huge quantity of drugs/capsules and fake currency has been stolen from high security seizure room (Malkhana) in the court complex Rajouri.
While SHO Rajouri and other senior police officials in the District Police Rajouri were tight lipped over the matter, official sources said that a case FIR No. 143/2023 has been registered at Police Station Rajouri in this connection.
Sources further said that there is strong police deployment at Malkhana (Court Seizure Room) at Rajouri Court complex. The theft at such a place is very surprising and can’t be possible without the involvement of `insiders’.
Reports said that theft took place in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The ‘thieves’ allegedly decamped with one lakh fake Indian currency, Rs 53000 Indian currency, about 1450 gm Charas, 4 kg of heroin and more than 500 capsules.
It’s a unique case of theft in which seized material has been stolen from high security court seizure room. Nobody including media-persons were allowed to enter that area of court complex when they came to know about the incident and tried to perform their official duty.
Sources added that an inquiry has been ordered in this regard. Judiciary in Rajouri has taken this matter very seriously. From SHO to SSP level no official was picking up phone or responding when contacted by the Excelsior for more details.
