JAMMU, Jan 2: Police here today worked out a theft case involving huge amount of cash stolen from a temple and arrested the thief within 24 hours.
Giving details in this regard, Police sources informed that yesterday a complaint was lodged at Police Station Doda by one Ajay Kumar, son of Sewa Ram, resident of Ghat, Doda regarding theft of cash from a temple near Government Medical College Ghat Doda after breaking the lock during the night of December 31, 2024. On this, an FIR with No. 01/2025 U/S 305/331(3)BNS was registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started.
On the directions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, a special Police team was constituted which was headed by Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, SHO Police Station Doda.
During investigation many suspects were rounded up for questioning and two juvenile confessed their involvement in the theft.
On their disclosure, the stolen money amounting Rs 13,550 was recovered from them.
Investigation in the case was going on till last reports.
