There is outrageous discrepancy in Hollywood: Natalie Portman

LONDON, Aug 7:  “Black Swan” star Natalie Portman has insisted that she is sick of the massive pay gap between men and women in Hollywood.
The 34-year-old actress said there is an “outrageous discrepancy” between what leading men and women get and this has to change, reported Marie Claire.
“There is an outrageous discrepancy between men and women in Hollywood. ‘Titanic’ is a huge hit and Leonardo DiCaprio immediately goes to USD 20 million per movie and Kate Winslet doesn’t.
“But that feels totally like it’s changing. Young women like Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart – they’re the stars now. I don’t even know who the guys are who are their age,” Portman said.
The “Closer” actress, who is married to Benjamin Millepied and has four-year-old son Aleph, is not worried about her own career anymore and accepts that there is going to be a time when her demand will be less.
“I don’t get panicky, I know the waves – sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes it’s wild. I feel like I’ve done so much, it allows me to try new things, like directing. I can follow my own curiosity. I’ve been doing this long enough to see that my path is my own. I’m not in a race with anyone,” she said. (PTI)
