Speaking to reporters at Bijbehara today, Mufti said that her party has suffered worst post 2019 and attempts were made to break it.
Mufti said that she tried to raise the voice against injustice in Jammu and Kashmir and faced a lot of hardships for that.
The PDP president said that they would get exposed if the real situation in J&K and Ladakh was highlighted in the Parliament.
“So, they fear that if this voice reaches the Parliament, they will face issues there as well. The fear that if the real situation of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is highlighted in the Parliament, their claims of normalcy will be exposed. Hence, they try to keep Mehbooba Mufti away from Parliament,” she said.
“Our tribal people, including Gujjar and Bakarwal, have been subjected to injustice, as it seems there is no one to talk about it. Like what happened two days ago in the Janipur area of Jammu, wherein a tribal girl was harassed. After that, when her mother and other women from the family went to rescue her, she was beaten so much that they had to be hospitalized. The police, instead of lodging an FIR, tried to lodge a counter FIR. I think this injustice which has been committed, I have raised my voice against it time and again. I think the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially my own people, would respect this and strengthen my voice,” she said.
“South Kashmir is my own place, and Bijbehara is my hometown where my father is buried. Whenever I feel sad or face trouble, I come here to offer prayers. I cannot say that I have begun my campaign, but I have come here to share my feelings with my father. Whenever there have been challenges, since the time I began my political career in 1996, my father was with me. Today, not only me but the whole of Jammu and Kashmir is facing significant challenges. In such a situation, the land which we are proud of, known as paradise in the world, has dark clouds hovering over its identity. It presents a big opportunity, and that’s why I came here,” she said.
