JAMMU, Feb 19: Janipur police arrested a thief and recovered a stolen auto from his possession.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Surinder Pal, son of Sain Dass, a resident of Hari Nagar, Janipur stating that his auto bearing registration number JK02Q-3165 has been stolen by some unidentified persons from outside his residence.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 20/16 under Section 379 RPC was registered and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several persons were picked up for questioning and out of them one person broke down and confessed to commit the theft.
The accused has been identified as Kuldeep Singh alias Ghosa, son of Ranjit Singh, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Sarwal.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Janipur police station Inspector RS Bhau made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Sandeep Choudhary, SP City Dr Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
