JAMMU, July 29: Canal Road Police arrested a thief and recovered stolen items from his possession.
As per police sources, a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Canal Road by a person namely Gopal Dass, Trustee of Shiv Temple Canal Head pertaining to the theft of gold ornaments from Shiv Temple at Canal Head.
Acting over the complaint, a case FIR Number 85/2022 under sections 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
During the course of the investigation, a team from Police Post Canal Road led by PSI Amreek Singh was constituted under the supervision of SHO Nowabad Inspector Vijay Kumar and DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma.
The team did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV cameras footages of the area, finally arrested the thief, who was identified as Rahul, son of Puran Chand of Ward Number 13 Mohalla Bazigar Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu.
On his disclosure, stolen gold ornaments (nath & tikka) of idol of Goddess Sita were recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
