JAMMU, Sept 16: Police in Jammu’s Akhnoor area claimed to have solved a case of theft by arresting the accused and recovering the stolen gold chain.
A police official said that on September 15, one Gourav Gupta, a resident of Ward number 7, Akhnoor reported theft of his gold chain.
Based on his complaint, the police official said that a case FIR number 166/2024 under the relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Using various human and technical leads, he said, a suspect, Ashok Kumar of Ghar Majoor in Chowki Choura was detained for questioning.
During sustained interrogation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime and accordingly he was arrested with the gold chain weighing around 15 grams from his home, the police official said, adding that further investigation into the case is underway.
