KATHUA, Dec 2: Billawar police today arrested a notorious thief along with stolen items worth Rs 1 lakh.
SSP Kathua Mohan Lal said that acting on specific information, police party from Police Station Billawar on naka duty at Beral, tehsil Billawar apprehended a notorious thief namely Mohammad Sadiq, son of Mohammad Shafi of Maggar Khad, district Kathua.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he has committed number of burglaries in Billawar and its adjoining areas mainly at shops during night hours.
On his disclosure, stolen items worth Rs 1 lakh including golden ornaments of Rs 30,000, seven mobile phones, 1 electronic weighing machine, 1 handy gas cylinder, 1 SIM card (Reliance), 1 memory card and Rs 4500 cash have been recovered, SSP informed.
With the arrest of the accused, three burglary cases registered at Police Station Billawar, SSP said, adding that some more recoveries are expected in the near future as some associates of subject are absconding and efforts are going on for their arrest.
