JAMMU, Sept 10: Sidhra Police busted a thieves’ gang with the arrest of its eight members alongwith stolen items of more than Rs 20 lakhs.
As per police sources, several complaints of thefts were lodged at Police Post Sidhra and accordingly cases under FIR Numbers 117/2021, 289/2021, 301/2021, 317/2021 and 216/2021 under relevant Sections were registered at Police Station Nagrota.
To work out the cases, a team from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket and assisted by Incharge Police Post Sidhra SI Shakil Ahmed was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
After strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV footages of the area, the team nabbed four suspects, who were identified as Mohammad Aslam alias Sonu, son of Rehmat Ali of Dangyali Majeen Sidhra, Mohammad Yasser, son of Mohammad Aslam of Sidhra, Mohammad Ramzan alias Palli, son of Ishaq Mohammad of Upper Majeen Sidhra, Yaqoob Ahmed alias Pattu, son of Nawab Din of Kiryani Talab Narwal Bala District Jammu.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed their involvement in a case registered under FIR Number 117/2021 and stolen property worth Rs 30,000 was recovered from them.
Later on, a suspect namely Mohammad Habib Khan, son of Mohammad Saleen Khan of Saifpur Ramraj Uttar Pradesh was rounded up and on his disclosure another suspect namely Usman Khan, son of Mohammad Saleen Khan of Saifpur Ramraj UP was arrested from Meerut by a team of Police Post Sidhra.
Taking the lead further on the disclosure made by both the accused, two more accused (brothers) were identified, who fled to Punjab after commission of crime and accordingly a team was sent to Pathankot, Punjab and with the help of native police of the concerned area these accused identified as Pawan Kumar alias Javed and Rakesh alias Liyaqat, sons of Vinod Bawa, residents of Pathankot Punjab.
On the disclosure of all arrested eight thieves, stolen items including diamond, gold and silver ornaments of more than Rs 20 lakhs were recovered.
Further investigation into the cases is going on and more arrests are likely to come up.
