Thousands of devotees throng Ram Kund Mandir on ‘Chetar Choudas’

MENDHAR, Apr 4: Thousands of devotees from Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu areas thronged Ram Kund Mandir during two-day mela which concluded today.
This fair is being organized every year on ‘Chetar Choudas’ and a large number of devotees participate in it with great religious fervour and enthusiasm. The district and local sub-divisional level administration had made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of this historic mela.
Management Committee of the temple led by its chairman, Mahant Seeta Ram Das ji Maharaj organized the affair. The devotees had holy bath in the Ram `Kund’ (pool of water) and offered special prayers during this three day festival.
It is said that nearly 20,000 devotees visited the shrine during two days. Many ‘Sadhus’ from various parts of the state and the country also thronged the temple.
A traditional ‘Charri Yatra’ was taken out from Hanuman Temple, Mendhar to the Ram Kund Mandir on first day to declare open the mela.
On the occasion local unit of the army provide infrastructure and security to the devotees. Prominent among those who participated in mela included, SDM Mendhar Sahil Jandyal, CO Local Rastriya Raifle, SDPO Neeraj Padyaar, SHO Sajad Mir, Bajrangdal Hindu Sabha President Balram Sharma, President Sonu Sharma, Ranjeet Sharma, Mendhar, sarpanches and others.
