Thousands participate in seminar on Sufi Saint Mian Bashir Larvi

POONCH, Nov 19: Thousands of people participated in a daylong seminar organised on the life and contribution of great Sufi Saint, late Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi, by news portal Hallabole in Poonch District.
A statement said that former Cabinet Minister and son of late Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi, Mian Altaf Ahmed Larvi, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Padma Bhushan awardee, Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi was the resident of Wangat Village of Kangan Tehsil in Ganderbal District. He also served as a legislator several times from Kangan and also from Darhal. He also served as a Cabinet Minister.
Speakers who spoke in the seminar recalled the contributions of Larvi in social upliftment of the tribal people.
His immense contribution in maintaining peace, brotherhood, and harmony in society was also remembered.
Prominent speakers who expressed their views on the occasion were KD Maini, eminent writer/historian, Prof M Waqar (retired), Maulana Syed Habib, Mian Irshad, Mufti Ibrahim Misbahi, Ayaz Ahmed Saif, Prof Jahangir Asgar, and Najma Choudhary.
Some of the speakers presented their papers on the life and contribution of the Great Sufi Saint. They also recalled his social, religious, and political influence across J&K in other parts of the country.
While addressing thousands of people, Mian Altaf Ahmed Larvi expressed heartfelt gratitude to people for participating in the seminar.
He said, “the message of my late father Mian Bashir was harmony and progress of the downtrodden people.”
He termed his father as a messiah of the tribal people and recalled his selfless service in the upliftment of the society.
Eminent anchor Pardeep Khanna conducted the proceedings of the seminar organised by Dr Zamurad Mughal, editor-in-chief of Hallabole news portal.
Various political and social personalities participated in the seminar. They were Naseem Liaqat, Ashfar Choudhary, Riyaz Bashir Naaz, Imran Zaffar, Shahnawaz Choudhary, Sain Rashid, Choudhary Abdul Ghani, Choudhary Amanullah, and others.
