JAMMU, Jan 1: Thousands of devotees thronged the Bawe Wali Mata Temple in the Bahu Fort area of Jammu on the first day of the New Year, braving the biting winter cold to seek blessings from the revered deity. The holy shrine witnessed long queues of men, women, and children who arrived from various parts of Jammu and nearby regions to offer prayers and invoke divine grace for the year ahead.

The Temple premises were beautifully illuminated to mark the occasion, creating a spiritual and festive ambiance. Devotees began lining up early in the morning, with the echo of “jaikare” reverberating through the air, adding to the devotional fervor. To cater to the large number of visitors, food stalls were set up by devotees, offering refreshments to those present.
Security arrangements were tightened in and around the Temple to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. Local authorities worked in coordination with Temple management to handle the heavy rush and maintain order.
Apart from the Bawe Wali Mata Temple, other temples across Jammu city and nearby districts, including Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur, also experienced a significant influx of devotees. People turned up in large numbers at these shrines to perform ‘darshan’ and start the year on an auspicious note.
Special arrangements were made by the authorities at these temples to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees. Measures included crowd control, sanitation, and the provision of essential services.
For many families, visiting temples on New Year’s Day has become a tradition, symbolizing hope, gratitude, and prayers for prosperity. The turnout this year demonstrated the unwavering faith and resilience of devotees, who braved chilly weather conditions to pay their respects.
