Thousands throng Wangat for annual Baba Nagri Urs

SRINAGAR, June 8: Thousands of devotees reached the Baba Nagri shrine in district Ganderbal’s Wangat today for the 127th Urs of Sufi saint, Baba Ji Sahib Larvi Naqashbandi.
Every year, the Urs is held for two days. This year, the grand event, which saw the attendance of men, women, and children from different districts of J&K, started on Friday (June 7) and culminated today with special prayers.
Most devotees from Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Jammu, Udhampur, Bandipora and Anantnag reached Baba Nagri-over 46 km from Srinagar-on Friday by vehicles, while scores of others arrived on Saturday to participate in the concluding ceremony.
On the occasion, various scholars spoke about the life and teachings of Baba Nizam-ud-Din Kiyani (RA), urging devotees to follow the principles of Islam and lead a pious life as taught by the Sufi saint.
