JAMMU, June 12: Taking strong exception to incident of thrashing of two daily wagers at receiving Station 33KVA Satwari during the night of June 11, 2014, by local inhabitants, All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers’ Union (EDLWU) has demanded the higher authorities of the Department to lodge an FIR against the accused.
The issue was raised in a meeting of the Union held here under the presidentship of Tara Chand.
The meeting condemned the incident and demanded the concerned AEE to lodge an FIR against the accused persons for beating the daily wagers namely Kishori Lal and Sarwan Kumar during duty hours, while there was power curtailment as per usual practice.
The union also demanded the AEE to direct the concerned JEE to perform his duties during night hours like other officials of the department, as during the incident the JEE did not bother to come to site even after having been contacted by the concerned Foreman.
The Union threatened to go for demonstration if no action will be taken within five days.
