Three bootleggers held; illicit liquor recovered, lahan destroyed

JAMMU, Oct 29: Police claimed here today that they arrested three bootleggers from different areas and recovered from their possession 65 bottles and 8 litres of illicit liquor besides destroying 150 litres of lahan.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Bishnah Police Station led by SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, assisted by SHO Bishnah, Inspector Vikram Sharma raided at a suspected location in Bishnah and rounded up a suspected person identified as Amarjeet Singh alias Kaka of Village Deoli, Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu.
During search of the suspect, he said, 53 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered. He was accordingly arrested and booked in case FIR number 244/2023 under section 48(a) of the Excise Act registered at Police Station Bishnah.
Similarly, another team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SDPO Nagrota, Akash Kohli, assisted by SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Inspector Azad Ahmed while on naka duty rounded up a suspected person, identified as Ashnil Kumar of Reasi, who was selling illicit liquor in the area.
Twelve bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession, said the police spokesperson.
He was accordingly arrested and booked in case FIR number 242/2023 under section 48-F of the Excise Act registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli.
Another team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma, assisted by SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq raided a suspected place and recovered 8 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed 150 litres of lahan.
Police have arrested and booked the accused identified as Parmeet Kour of Goudhan, Maira Mandriyan, Akhnoor in case FIR number 286/2023 under sections 48-A, and 48-F of the Excise Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation started.
