JAMMU, Oct 6: A 3-day-long cancer conference titled ‘CRABECON 2023’, being organized by LBN Radiation of Hope in association with American Oncology Institute Jammu, Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, North Zone Chapter (NZ-AROI) and Indian Society of Clinical Oncology, was kick-started, here today.
The program of CRABECON 2023 started with a Breast Cancer Contouring Workshop organized at AOI Jammu. Dr Vibhor Gupta (Director- Medical Operations and Quality, CTSI- South Asia) inaugurated the workshop with welcome address while world’s leading Radiation Oncologist Prof Dr Sushil Beriwal presided over the session virtually from US and gave hands on learning cum training to all the PGs, Residents and Faculty.
It was followed by the inaugural session of the program on “Environmental and Occupational Determinants of Cancer” that started with lamp lighting, followed by welcome message by Dr Satyanker Gupta. Dignitaries present at the occasion were Dr G K Rath (former Director, National Cancer Institute), Dr Pavan Malhotra (Director Principal, ASCOMS), Dr Rajeev Sharma (Director Health Jammu), Dr Yashpal Sharma (Director, New Medical Collages), Faisal Qureshi (SSP Traffic Jammu), Prof K B Abrol (chairman, LBN Radiation of Hope) and Shashi Khajuria (secretary, LBN Radiation of Hope).
Thereafter scientific sessions were organized wherein various expert faculties from premier medical institutions of India held detailed deliberation on Environmental and Occupational Determinants of Cancer. Each scientific session was followed by a panel discussion with chairpersons from premier medical institutions of India.
The CRABECON Executive Summit concluded with vote of thanks presented by Dr Deepak Abrol (leading Radiation Oncologist and executive chairman of the Conference). Academic chairman of the Conference is leading Medical Oncologist Dr Satyanker Gupta.
Earlier, Dr Neeraj Bishnoi, RCOO & AVP – North (American Oncology Institute), said that AOI has been at the fore front of providing precision cancer care to the cancer patients and its Jammu unit has brought world class cancer care to Jammu region and continuing its endeavour to bring in the most advanced technology and compassionate cancer care.
Dr Bishnoi said they decided to associate with LBN Radiation of Hope to bring this hybrid conference to Jammu this year. Rayhan Hussaini, Facility Director of AOI Jammu also informed that they have been treating hundreds of cancer patients every month and now one of the most advanced Radiotherapy LINAC Accelerator, HALCYON E is installed at AOI Jammu and this is the first ever HALCYON E machine in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
