JAMMU, Oct 3: In an impressive ceremony this evening, 25th Annual Conference of Vascular Society of India (VSI) was inaugurated in Jammu city at Hotel Radisson Blu.
The conference was inaugurated formally by the chief guest, Lt Gen Bipin Puri, Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services along with a galaxy of international and national vascular Surgeons.
Doctors from GMC Jammu, Vascular Surgery trainees, General Surgery and allied specialty trainees from across the country were also present in the inaugural ceremony of the conference, which is being organized by CTVS Department of Government Medical College Jammu in collaboration with Vascular Society of India.
In his inaugural address, the chief guest talked about the need of Vascular Surgery branch in India, its exponential growth since inception in 1994 and how the skills of vascular surgeons need to evolve with ever-changing and evolving diseases and modern warfare.
Later, Lt Gen Bipin Puri presented mementoes to president of VSI, Dr SR Subramanian, secretary, Dr S Jeykumar, Dr Sushil Sharma, Dr VS Bedi and Dr Tapish Sahu in presence of Dr Gurjit Singh (organizing chairman of the Conference) and Dr Noor Ali (organizing president).
After inaugural ceremony, an exciting yet comprehensive CME along with a Hands-on Skill Training for more than 100 Post Graduate students was organized during which the international faculty members teach the young practitioners.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Arvind Kohli, organizing secretary of the Conference said, “From tomorrow onwards, we shall start with the scientific session of this annual conference program covering a wide range of topics for vascular and endovascular surgery that will be presented by a diverse panel of distinguished speakers. It will cover the whole spectrum of vascular surgery focusing on new research, clinical advances and current controversies”.
