Three-day World Yoga Conference at JU from Feb 21

JAMMU, Feb 19: Yoga centre in Jammu University is going to organize a World Yoga Conference on the theme ‘Global Peace and Harmony through Holistic Approach of Yoga and Meditation’ from February 21-23.
The three-day world conference is being attended by about 300 delegates from different countries, including USA, Canada, Iran, Mexico and UNESCO.
Governor N N Vohra has consented to inaugurate the conference, during which eminent scholars and practioners of Yoga will enlighten the delegates about this ancient concept.
This was informed by the JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar while addressing a new conference on the campus, here today.
“Let this conference on Global Peace and Harmony through Holistic Approach of Yoga and Meditation be the first step in investing the Yoga and Yogic culture with a new dimension of transforming the world,” he said.
Prof Singh maintained that by spreading Yoga in the world with wider objectives, a new era of peace and harmony can be ensured. “Yoga not only helps in shaping the physique and sharpening the mental faculties in a human being but it also inculcates the sense of discipline among the practioners,” he said adding that India has a great responsibility in leading humans on this planet towards peaceful and healthier stages of man’s existence in the future.
Director of JU Yoga Centre, Dr D L Choudhary, who accompanied Vice-Chancellor in the press conference, threw light on salient features of the World Conference. He informed that Prof Swatantra Kumar Murgai, Vice-Chancellor of Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya Haridwar, Prof Mahavir Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Uttrakhand Vishwavidalaya, Ms Lee Halina Majewski from Canada are among the dignitaries participating in the conference.
Registrar Prof Naresh Padha, Reactor Kathua Campus Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Students Welfare Prof N K Tripathi and Special Secretary to VC, Jai Kumar Sharma were also present in the press conference.
