JAMMU, May 5: Three days Indian International Model United Nation (IIMUN) commenced at Heritage School Jammu.
On the occasion, the chief guest was Prof Suman Jamwal, Director Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu. Among the prominent speakers were Dr Shyam Narayan Lal, Associate Prof History Department, University of Jammu.
A simulation of the workings of the United Nations, Model United Nations provides a forum for the discussion of complex global issues. Participants gain an insight into geopolitical stands of nations and the workings of the United Nations by representing the policies of a chosen country, and the importance of balancing national interests and the needs of the international community.
The programme began by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by the inspiring words of Pratik Daware Director General IIMUN Jammu Chapter.
An impressive cultural programme having roots in the Indian culture was put up by the students of Heritage School. An edifying IIMUN video was also showcased.
JS Dhami, Principal, Heritage School in his address stressed on the need to ready the next set of leaders of the country.
The chief guest in her speech opined that such endeavours are a platform for the young generation to voice their opinions and work towards the larger interest of the world.
Dr Shyam Narayan Lal urged the students to uphold the values of community brotherhood, service before self and world peace.
