Three days workshop on ‘Advancement in Concrete Technology’ begins

JAMMU, May 10: The Civil Engineering Department of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with JK Cement and Ultratech Cement organized three days workshop on “Advancement in Concrete Technology”.
Galaxy of intellectuals like Prof Sajjad Khan (KGP, Srinagar), Prof Rameshweren (SRM, Chennai), Dr Ikechukwu P Ejidike (Anchor University, Nigeria) and more than 400 students, faculties and researchers from different parts of the country participated in this conclave.
To meet the challenges posed by COVID-19 and minimize the impact of pandemic on academic activities, Prof (Dr) AK Srivastava, Director, YCET encouraged the initiative taken by Civil Engineering Department.
The resource persons are Er Vikas Malhotra, General Manager, JK Cement, Er Vybhav Gupta, Regional Technical Head, Ultra Tech Cement, Er Shwetha KG, Assistant Professor, NMIT, Bengaluru and Er Mahesh Kumar C.L, Assistant Professor, NMIT, Bengaluru.
The welcome address was given by Rajnish Magotra, HOD, Civil Engineering Department and also the convener of this conclave.
The introductory talk was given by Shivalika, student coordinator. The first session was chaired by Er Vikas Malhotra, He addressed about “Value-added Cement based products”. He explains how you can provide something different and providing it better than the competition by using these value added products. The next sessions which are scheduled on 11th and 12th May will be on “Hands on Concrete Mix Design” by Er Vybhav Gupta, “Application of Nano Concrete in Civil Engineering Field” by Er Shwetha KG and “Role of Alternative materials in concrete for Sustainable Construction” by Prof Mahesh Kumar CL.
The session was very interactive and useful.
