JAMMU, Nov 2: Three fresh cases of dengue were reported in Jammu on Friday, taking the total number of patients affected with the disease so far this year to 4967 in the Union Territory.
“With 3 more cases in Jammu district, the number of people affected with the vector-borne disease in the Jammu district has raised to 3095”, a health official said, adding, more than 90% cases have been reported from municipal areas including major hotspots like Muthi, Vinayak Nagar, Roop Nagar, Janipur and Durga Nagar.
He said the Jammu district is followed by Samba with 537 cases while 458 cases were reported from Kathua, 256 from Udhampur, 204 from Reasi, 124 from Rajouri, 115 from Doda, 59 from Poonch, 47 from Ramban, 19 from Kishtwar and 19 from Kashmir region. 34 local cases have also been reported from other States and UTs.
The official further informed that a total of 27433 patients were tested for dengue this year till yesterday out of which 4967 cases were found to be positive. However, it is a matter of relief that only one death has been reported due to dengue this year.
He further revealed that out of 3 dengue cases reported yesterday, 2 were adult males and 1 was a male child. “A total of 474 patients affected with dengue were hospitalized and of them 385 were discharged after successful treatment while 77 are still under treatment in various hospitals across the UT,” the official added.
