Three drug peddlers arrested with cannabis, poppy straw

JAMMU, Oct 29: Satwari and Nagrota Police arrested three drug peddlers along with large quantity of cannabis and poppy straw.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Satwari led by Incharge SHO Inspector Sunil Sharma under the supervision of SDPO South PK Mengi laid a naka and apprehended a drug peddler along with 375 grams of cannabis.
The arrested person was identified as Tika Ram, son of Nanak Chand of Chatha Mill District Jammu.
A case FIR Number 248/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Nagrota led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number PB10HP-7045.
During checking, police team recovered 31 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were identified as Balbir Singh, son of Khushia Singh of Punjab and Ashok Kumar, son of Mohan Lal of Bain Glar District Samba.
A case under FIR Number 415/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
