JAMMU, June 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police today reported the presence of seven militants in Gundoh and Chattergala areas of Doda district.
According to police, four of them are active in Kota Top region of Gundoh, while two-three are located in Chattergala near Bhaderwah.
While in a major breakthrough, police claimed that have apprehended three individuals from Tanta Draman Village today for aiding these seven active militants. The arrested individuals are identified as Safdar, Mubashir, and Sajad.
According to police, the accused individuals provided shelter and logistical aid to the militants in Kota Top. Further, they are accused of acting as the guides of the militants and not reporting their activity to the police.
Additional arrests are anticipated as the investigation in the case progresses, said police.
SSP Doda, Javed Iqbal, confirmed the details, stating that security forces have identified two separate groups of militants in Kota Top and Chattergala.
The situation escalated recently when militants fired upon a joint patrol party of police and Army in Chattergala on June 11, resulting in injuries to five soldiers and one special police officer.
A day later, on June 12, a police constable was injured during a confrontation with militants in Kota Top.
Security measures have been intensified in the affected areas, with continuous cordon and search operations underway to ensure public safety and manage the militant threat effectively.
The authorities remain vigilant and are taking all necessary steps to address the situation.
