JAMMU, Jan 3: Police in RS Pura area here claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers with over 92 grams of heroin.
A team of RS Pura Police Station led by SHO concerned while on patrolling duty at Khanna Chak rounded up a suspect identified as Ashwani Kumar alias Kali of Rangpur Sidhrey, Tehsil Suchetgarh, District Jammu, a police spokesperson said.
He said on search of the suspect, 0.5 grams of heroin was recovered. On further disclosure of the accused, the police spokesperson said that it came to fore that he bought the drugs from a couple who were selling it in the area.
On this, police conducted a raid at the suspected location and arrested the accused couple identified as Ankush Kumar and Preeti, both residing at Khanna Chak, Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu, said police spokesperson.
On their search, he said, 92.53 grams of heroin was recovered.
All the three accused have been accordingly booked in case FIR number 05/2024 Under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation taken up.
