Three killed, 19 injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, Feb 25: Three persons were killed while 19 injured today in four separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a 20-year old youth identified as Kuldeep Raj, son of Omkar Chand of Raskar received serious injuries after he got slipped while boarding off a bus bearing registration No JK02B-0271 at Kunjwani and was crushed under the vehicle. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting post mortem. The Gangyal police has taken cognizance in the case.
In another incident, a 27-year old youth identified as Bintu Kumar son of Raghunath Chander, a resident of Durga Nagar, died on the spot after a speeding truck hit his bike near Laxmi Palace falling under the limits of police post Pounichak. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH for post mortem. The Pounichak police has taken cognizance of the matter.
A 23-year old youth was also killed when an unknown vehicle hit him near Jelhum Resort, late tonight. The deceased has been identified as Rajan Lohar, son of Bhikhu Lohar, a resident of West Bengal. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH for post mortem. The Trikuta Nagar police has registered a case and started investigations.
At Banachak in Bishnah, a mini-bus bearing registration No JK02E-2587 turned turtle resulting into injuries to 15 persons, which include mostly students. In the mishap, 19 persons were injured and were shifted to Government Hospital, Bishnah. Later, 11 of them were referred to GMCH Jammu for specialized treatment.
The injured include Vishal Charak (17) daughter of Pritam Singh, Sujata (17) daughter of Sham Lal, Surinder Kour (17) daughter of Kulbir Singh, Rimsa Bhat (14) daughter of Joginder Kumar, Prito Devi (50) wife of Ratan Lal, Bimla Devi (45) wife of Bhachan Lal, Komal Bhagat (17) daughter of Sarban Lal, Meena Devi (14) daughter of Yashpal, Kamla Devi (45) wife of Narayan Dass, Rashmi Devi daughter of Joginder Kumar, Kamla Devi daughter of Ram Lal, Sonia Sharma daughter of Som Nath, Divya Kumari daughter of Sarban Lal, Neelam Devi daughter of Ashok Kumar, Ria Sharma daughter of Sri Ram Sharma, Renu Devi daughter of Ram Dass, Vishali Devi daughter of Kamal Kumar, Sithu Saini daughter of Krishan Lal and Karan Singh son of Kewal Singh, all residents of Bishnah and its outskirts.
The Bishnah police has seized the vehicle after registering a case while the conductor and driver of the mini-bus managed to escape from the spot.
