JAMMU, Jan 1: Three persons were killed and two others injured in road accidents at different locations.
As per reports, a person was seriously injured, when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a truck near Satwari.
The motorcyclist identified as Manjeet Singh of RS Pura was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
The body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites after completion of legal formalities, while a case has been registered and investigation started.
In another incident, one person was killed and two others were injured in truck-jonga collision at Telli Bhari, near Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur.
Jonga bearing registration number JK05B-2357 was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, when it collided with a truck bearing registration number JK02AE-3867 at Telli Bhari, resulting into serious injuries to three persons.
On getting information, police from Chenani Police Station rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Sub-District Hospital Chenani, from where they were later referred to District Hospital Udhampur for specialized treatment.
One of the three injured identified as Abdul Majid, son of Ali Mohd of Sadalkot Balla, Bandipora, Srinagar failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed, while two others namely Firoz Ahmed, son of Mohd Maqbool of Baramulla, Srinagar and Mohd Sadiq, son of Gulam Mohd of Bandipora, Srinagar were responding to the treatment and their condition was stated to be out of danger, when last reports poured in.
A case under FIR number 2/13 under Section 279/ 337 RPC has been registered at Chenani Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle in Nankechak, district Samba, late this evening.
The body of the deceased identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Kali Dass of Nankechak, district Samba was shifted to District Hospital Samba for post mortem, which will be conducted tomorrow.
A case has been registered at Samba Police Station and investigation started.
