Three Residential Houses, ICDS Centre Gutted In Fire Incident In J&K

Srinagar, Dec 27: Three residential houses, an Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) centre and two cowsheds were gutted in a fire incident in Jammu Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.
A fire-fighter Irfan Ahmad Dar was injured during the operation who was promptly shifted to a nearby health facility for treatment, the Fire and Emergency officials said.
They said the fire broke out during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday in a residential house at Village Marsari in Chokibal area and engulfed other nearby houses causing damage to three two storied residential houses, an ICDS centre and two cowsheds.
As soon as the fire occurred several fire tenders were rushed from the nearby fire stations of Kralpora, Tangdhar and Kuwara to douse the leaping flames.
Eyewitness said the Army and locals rescued the civilians from the area and extended every possible help to the civil administration to control the fire.
The cause of the fire is stated to be due to the electricity short circuit, they said.
