Three youths planning to join militant ranks nabbed in Kashmir

Srinagar: Three youths allegedly planning to join militant ranks were arrested in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said today.

Aqib Malla and Sabzar Khanday, both residents of Hillow, and Aqib Malla of Trenz village were arrested in connection with an attempted bank robbery and weapon snatching at Imamsahab branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Shopian district on May 25, a police spokesman said.

“The trio had a plan of joining the militant ranks after looting the bank,” he said.

Police had on Monday last said over 50 youths, who wanted to join militant ranks, were arrested over the past few months in different parts of the Valley. (Agencies)
