JAMMU, Dec 7: Bhaderwah police foiled timber smuggling bid by arresting two persons.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Bhaderwah police station laid a naka at Halian Nallah and signaled a van bearing registration number JK06-7806 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the van and intercepted it near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 24 deodar wooden kandails from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who were transporting the forest timber illegally.
The accused have been identified as Haroon Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid of Green Colony, Bhaderwah and Dalmir, son of Qasim Din Gujjar of Bonjua, District Kishtwar.
A case under FIR Number 140/16 under Section 379 RPC 6 Forest Act has been registered against the timber smugglers and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bhaderwah Inspector Jatinder Sambyal foiled the timber smuggling bid and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO Bhaderwah Sajjad Khan, Additional SP Bhaderwah Sargun Shukla and SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas.
