DODA, Dec 16: In a joint operation, Police and personnel of Forest Department here today foiled a bid of illegal transportation of timber on Changa-Tantly road in Gandoh.
Police sources informed that a reliable tip was received at Police Station Gandoh regarding the transportation of timber illegally on Changa-Tantly road and the information was immediately shared with Forest Department officials.
On the directions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta and Conservator Forests Doda Range, Sandeep Kumar, a team from Police Station Gandoh along with personnel of Forest Protection Force rushed to the spot and they intercepted the vehicle loaded with timbers at around 2 am.
The vehicle was driven by Rustum Zargar, son of Imtyaz Ahmed and two other persons Baber, son of Shafqat Ali and Zehran, son of Nisar Ahmed, all resident of Kilhotran were found travelling in the vehicle carrying timbers.
These persons were arrested on the spot. The timber was extracted from a Kail concession on F-6, given to one Mohd Ashraf Butt, son of Ab Aziz Butt, resident of Kilhotran which was also confirmed from Range Office Bhalessa.
However, the timber was being transported by the owner in night hours violating transit rules.
A case was registered in Forest Range Office Bhellassa in this regard and investigation started.
