Srinagar, June 13: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said that Pakistan has not learnt lessons from past wars and time has come to teach it a lesson. He said that Centre’s dialogue offer is a golden opportunity for separatists for lasting peace in the State.
Speaking to reporters at Sun Temple at Mattan in South Kashmir after participating in the concluding cerebrations of month-long Banmass-Malmass festival, Gupta in reaction to the continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan and killing of four Border Security Force personnel, said that India offered hand of friendship to Pakistan but it seems they fail to understand it.
“Keeping in mind the Holy month of Ramadan, we offered the hand of friendship towards Pakistan but I think they did not understand. Pakistan had already seen three wars in 1965, 1971 and Kargil war and I think once again, it is important to teach them a lesson”, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Gupta said that intentions of Pakistan are not good from the beginning. “We know Pakistan’s intentions are not good from the very beginning. A request for the ceasefire came from Pakistan but I think they are not worth it. There should be no compromise in the unity and solidarity of the country”, he said.

Deputy Chief Minister warned befitting reply to Pakistan. “Our troops always work with restraint but if there will be anything from their side, we will fight back and one bullet will be answered with 10 bullets”, he added.
Gupta said that dialogue offer from the Central Government to Hurriyat Conference is a golden opportunity for it to join dialogue process for lasting peace in the State.  “We have always extended hand of friendship to both Pakistan and as well as Hurriyat in Kashmir. Dialogue is a golden opportunity for Hurriyat Conference which no other Government can give to it but we are yet to hear the response from the Hurriyat Conference. They should join dialogue process for lasting peace in the State”, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said India is a secular country which has given the youth of Kashmir a golden chance to join mainstream. “We have given a golden opportunity to stone pelters in Kashmir to join mainstream. India is the only secular country in the world where Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and people of other religions live in harmony. We want pro-Pak stone pelters to shun path of violence and join mainstream. We have given them an opportunity to shun the path of violence and join mainstream”, he added.
Gupta said corruption has taken roots during last seventy years and warned action against corrupt officials. “It will take time to smoothen the system, bring transparency and accountability in the State but I assure that no corrupt official will be spared”, he said.
