Tipper driver among 3 killed, 24 injured in road accidents

RAMBAN, Apr 9: Three persons including a tipper driver were killed and 24 others were injured in road accidents at different locations here today.
As per police sources, a tipper bearing registration number JK20-4599, which was on its way to JP Gate from Dam site hit the parapet and landed into 450 feet deep gorge on the bank of Chenab river, resulting into on the spot death of two persons and injuries to one another.
After getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot, retrieved the dead bodies and shifted the same to District Hospital Ramban.
The injured was rescued and rushed to District Hospital Ramban, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), but he also succumbed to his injuries on the way to Jammu.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Singh (driver), son of Kanshi Ram of Kanga, Bharat Singh, son of Rumaal Singh of Sawni, Chanderkote and Hemraj, son of Chuni Lal of Billawar.
After completing the legal formalities the bodies of the deceased persons were handed over to family members for last rites.
Meanwhile, 24 passengers were injured, when the mini-bus they were traveling in, turned turtle near Mehar area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated mini-bus bearing registration number JK19-1769 was on its way to Batote from Ramban, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it turned turtle near Mehar area.
On receiving information, police, army and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the 24 injured passengers to District Hospital Ramban, from where one CRPF jawan with head injury was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.
The injured have been identified as Preeti, daughter of Suram Chand of Chanderkote, Anjala Devi, daughter of Shadi Lal of Dhar Dhanrath, Ravinder Singh, son of Toushar Singh of Peera, Riya and her father Nirinder Chand of Chanderkote, Aqib, son of Farid Ahmed of Rajgarh, Lalita Kumari, daughter of Krishan Singh of Sawani, Reshab Rajput, son of Janak Chand of Chanderkote, Gyan Devi, wife of Girdhari Lal of Jatgali, Girdhari Lal, son of Tej Ram of Jatgali, Subash Gupta, son of late Dawarka Nath of Batote, Samina Begum, wife of Fareed Ahmed of Rajgarh, Girdhari Lal, son of Kirpa Ram of Sawani, Abdul Rasheed, son of Mohammad Ramzan of Sawani, Basheer Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman of Maligam Pogal, Rohit, son of Choudh Ram of Bibrota Rajgarh, Mohammad Haneif, son of Gulam Nabi of Rajgarh, Mamta Devi, wife of Om Parkash of Rajgarh, Meenakshi Devi, daughter of Om Parkash of Gari Rajgarh, Shadi Lal, son of Dhram Singh of Dhar Dhanrath, Mohammad Shoaib, son of Abdul Rasheed of Sawani, Choutu Ram, son of Panchi Ram of Bibrota, Sheash Ram, son of Teja Ram of Sawani, Fareed Ahmed, son of Mohammad Asif of Rajgarh and Lokesh Kumar, a CRPF Jawan posted at 84 Battalion headquarter Chanderkote Boom.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at concerned police stations and investigation started.
