JAMMU, Aug 20: The Managing Committee of Tirath Raj Kapal Mochan, Shopian Kashmir has shown concern over the denial of transport facilities to pilgrims attending the celebration of annual Shravan Bah festival at holy shrine falling on August 28 which will be preceded by two days Maha Yagya on August 26 and 27.
In a statement the working president of the shrine Soom Nath Saraf said that for the last 15 years the Government was providing free transport facilities to the pilgrims intending to attend the annual yatra during these years.
Saraf said it is not known that why the Government has withdrawn the decision this time and decided to charge bus fare from the pilgrims visiting holy shrine to participate in celebration of annual festival.
Saraf has sought the immediate intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in the matter and appealed him to issue directives to concerned officers to arrange free transportation for the pilgrims to and fro. He demanded free buses be provided on August 24 and 25 from Jammu and August 29 from Shopian to Jammu after the conclusion of the festival.
