Aaghaz Mahajan
Aah!! The thrill of finishing my Mathematics paper half an hour before the scheduled time, filed me with an inexplicable joy! As the seconds ticked by, finally the bell rang and everyone was rushing out of their seats to enjoy the freedom. The school premises were filled with joyous students who had been liberated from their most dreaded subject. But the exhilaration was not long lived! As soon as I reached home, I switched on the TV, only to be shocked.
Aah !!
The News channels were flashing with the reports of CBSE Class 10th Maths and Class 12th Economics paper. And CBSE had ordered a re-examination. Why!? Is this the stature of our system? Question Papers being leaked on social media sites as if they are nothing more than a recipe! And to top it all, the Board Exams were held this year after a long gap, and this resulted in a ghastly failure.
For lakhs of students like me, this was a Maiden rendezvous with the much highlighted and petrifying Board exams. Almost similar to the Maiden voyage of RMS Titanic, the disaster happened!! What is our fault, I ask?? Only if some students are sincere enough not to check the social networking sites, why should they incur a loss? All our hard work and time spent has gone waste. Due to the insolence and callous attitude towards studies of a few people and mala fide interest of a few others, why should the majority suffer? On one side, a democracy works for the benefit of the majority and always takes initiatives in the favor of masses but this is not what seems to have happened. My family along with many others in India, had planning to go on a trip and have a vacation after being freed from the burden of examination, but wait, there is the retest which forces us to change our plans. All the thrill of Independence Day from examination turned to the despair of “Imperialism”. Later in the evening, to my shock the news flashed that most probably, a Coaching Centre was behind this scandal !!
Now, if the people who teach students to succeed in life adopt these unfair means, who will be benefitted? Not the students, surely. Even if the police apprehends the accused, what has been done, cannot be undone. Students all over India are expressing their resentment against the degrading stature of the Education System in India, through Rallies, Protests and Online Petitions.
The situation is more alarming for Class 12th. The JEE examination is on 8th April. Should the students sacrifice their career due to the greed and insincerity of a few people? Each day is precious to them and right now, their focus should not be disturbed due to Economics. If this is how students are taught, how would India develop?
“Que Sera Sera”. The quote fits appropriately here. Now, the students are sitting with crossed fingers and hoping for the best. Let us hope that the Government sees that no one is at a disadvantage in this situation and stern action is taken against the guilty who have sunk the Titanic of our faith.
