TNWS urges JDA VC to effect improvements in main park

JAMMU, Aug 3: A deputation of Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) met VC, Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Mubarak Singh, and urged him to effect some more improvements in the main park along Railway Road.
It was pointed out by TNWS that since the JDA started maintaining the park it is daily visited by hundreds of morning walkers, senior citizens and railway users who wait for the trains’ departure and is a major source of recreation for Trikuta Nagar residents. But some immediate improvements need to be carried out to give the park a better look, the deputation added.
Mubarak Singh suggested the deputation that let a joint visit be paid to the park both by TNWS and the JDA to order on the spot improvement those can be effected.
Consequently, a joint visit was paid to the park by TNWS members including Vikram Gour, SC Sharma, Rajinder Kakkar, Sandeep Sharma, SN Koul, RN Kaw, Surrinder Mahajan and others. JDA VC was accompanied by Secretary, SE, Executive Engineer, AEE and others staff members.
The improvements suggested by TNWS include replacement of Eucalyptus trees by ornamental trees, removal or re-alignment of 11KV power lines, as a number of these lines are passing through the park, wash room facilities near children’s playing corner, renovation of lower left segment of the park, provision of Reading Room, hiring the services of an expert from the Directorate of Parks and Gardens regularly or on part time basis to oversee working of the park, plantation of Bogan Villa Bushes along both sides of nallah to cover up ugly look, etc.
After discussion and patient hearing by VC, all the suggestions made were well received and accepted by Mubarak Singh JDA VC and he issued immediate instructions to the JDA engineering staff to go ahead with work.
