MENDHAR, June 3: The toilet complex built for the public in the Tehsil Complex Mendhar in Poonch district has been locked for the last over one year.
Official sources said that Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department constructed a toilet complex for the general public scheme under 14th FC funds with the cost of Rs 1.20 lakh during 2020-2021 in the Tehsil Complex, at Gohlad, Upper Mendhar town, so that many people coming daily for their works to Tehsil complex could use it. But it has been locked for the last over one years despite the fact that facility is ready to use. Not only men, the women visiting Tehsil complex including SDM office, Tehsildar office and other offices are also facing hardships in the absence of toilet facility.
Local residents Mohammad Ismail, Mushtaq Ahmed and others have accused the Tehsil administration for the issue. They said that hundreds of people have to come here but the general public has been deprived of this facility. Even the women are facing much hardships. They are not able to utilise this facility. The Tehsil Administration has put lock on it due to reason best known to them. They raised the question if the toilet complex was built for the general public, then why it has been locked.
The general public of Mendhar town has sought the intervention of District Devlopment Commissioner Poonch in this matter. They appealed that this toilet facility should be opened for the public at the earliest so that the people who come to the offices daily can get relief.
