JAMMU, Oct 3: Senior Congress leader and MLA candidate from Bahu constituency, Taranjit Singh Tony, has expressed deep disappointment over the ongoing reconstruction work at the Talab Market in Bhalla Enclave, Channi Himmat.
Following numerous complaints from local residents, Tony conducted a visit to the site and was appalled by the poor quality of work being carried out. Local residents had raised concerns multiple times, yet no action was taken by the authorities. Shockingly, when approached, the contractor responsible for the project dismissed their concerns, arrogantly stating, “Aise hi kaam hoga”. This blatant disregard for public grievances has left the community frustrated.
Tony emphasized that there appears to be no proper quality check or supervision on the site. “It is unacceptable that public money is being wasted on substandard work. The Chief Engineer of PWD and the Municipal Commissioner must immediately visit the site and take cognizance of the situation,” Tony demanded.
The Congress leader warned that such negligence cannot be tolerated. “If this poor standard of work continues, I will press for the immediate blacklisting of the contractor involved,” Tony asserted. He urged the authorities to ensure that the remaining work is completed to the highest standards, reflecting the aspirations of the people of Channi Himmat.
Tony also criticized the Government for abandoning the Dadu Dadi Park in Channi, highlighting the lack of maintenance and lighting, which has affected the welfare of morning and evening walkers.
He observed that the public parks across the Jammu city are in deplorable condition. He condemned the shifting of responsibilities among departments and demanded the immediate restoration of lights in the park.
Tony also urged that all Malis working in IAS bungalows be reassigned to public parks and called on the JMC Commissioner to address the issue promptly. He stated that the Congress Party stands firmly with the residents of Bahu constituency, committed to ensuring accountability, transparency and development that benefits all.
