SUCHETGARH, Dec 26: J&K Congress general secretary and DDC Suchetgarh member, Taranjit Singh Tony here today inaugurated road blacktopping work.
Speaking on the occasion he expressed concern over the use of substandard material in developmental projects.
Tony claimed that Chief Engineer’s office appears to be least bothered about checking the quality of material used in these projects.
“This negligence is leading to compromised construction standards, which is unacceptable,” he said.
The Congress leader raised concerns over the alleged intentional delays in the start of development works and held the concerned contractors responsible for these delays.
“Many contractors are not adhering to the required quality and ratios as per the norms and this needs immediate attention,” Tony maintained adding: “There should be quality checks by the vigilance team in the presence of the concerned DDC members.”
He appealed to the Chief Engineer and the Commissioner Secretary to conduct surprise inspections in Suchetgarh to ensure that the construction work meets the set standards and if any contractor is found guilty of using substandard materials and not maintaining the required quality, he should be blacklisted.
