R.S PURA, Oct 22: DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony along with former MLC, Vikram Randhawa today unveiled the statue of Martyr Gurnam Singh at Rathana Morh here.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gurnam Singh, son of Kulbir Singh, attained martyrdom during unprovoked Pakistan firing on October 21, 2016.
Quoting ADGP Mukesh Singh’s Police Day address, Tony said that martyrs lay their lives for the sake of nation as a whole and not for their clan, community or religion and therefore parties which are dividing society on communal lines are doing great disservice to the nation.
The DDC Member said the ADGP had a great message for all social religious and political parties hell bent upon dividing society and country on communal lines by creating tensions between different communities.
He demanded that schools in the native villages of martyrs should be named after them.
Former BJP MLC Vikram Randhawa said that country will never forget the supreme sacrifice made by the valiant soldiers of Indian Army.
“The indebted nation is paying all respects to the soldiers for the sacrifices made by them in defending the motherland,” he added.
