Top CPI leader Yechuri visits flood hit areas

JAMMU, Oct 8: Member Parliament and Polit Bureau member of CPI (M) Sitaram Yechuri along with State leaders Sham Parsad Kesar, Om Parkash and Kishore Kumar visited rain and flood affected area of Jammu region and took stock of the situation.
Yechuri also paid visit to the Govt Medical College Jammu to meet personally with the persons injured in Pakistani firing at the International Border. The CPI MP visited Beli Charana, at the bank of river Tawi and Saddal area of Pancheri tehsil of district Udhampur. At Saddal many bodies have been extricated from the debris while many are still under the `Malba’ .
While interacting with the affected people, the CPI (M) leader claimed that he would raise their issue forcefully in the Lok Sabha in coming session and also with the State Government at Srinagar. He disclosed that MPs of his party have deposited Rs 10 core in the Relief Fund for the flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir. He demanded that Government of India should declare this problem as National Disaster so that sufferers could get adequate relief.
Mr Yechuri expressed sympathy with the people for suffering due to loss of life and property and extended every possible help. He said that he has come here to meet them and share their grief and not as a politician.
