ToT programme on drug de-addiction concludes

JAMMU, Apr 24: The third batch of Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme on Drug De-addiction and HIV/AIDS at Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Jammu concluded today.
The two-day training programme was organized by J&K State AIDS Control Society in collaboration with Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College, Jammu and Directorate of Higher Education, Jammu. The participants included teaching faculty and students from different Government degree colleges of Jammu province.
The first and second batch of training programmes were held on March 25 & 26 and March 28 & 29, respectively.
The chief guest of the concluding function was Mohammad Rafiq, Director Finance, H&ME Department, J&K Government and the guest of honour was Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Project Director, J&K State AIDS Control Society (JKSACS).
Speaking on the occasion, the Director Finance assured all possible help in redeeming the sufferings of drug addicts and adopting strategies and policies for preventing the trapping of the youth towards the menace of drug abuse.
Project Director, J&K State AIDS Control Society, while interacting with the participants, informed them that Government is making all efforts to reach out to the people residing in the different regions of the State regarding this serious issue in order to tap maximum number of people so that the situation could be controlled and stopped from further deterioration. He also sought feedback from the participants for further improving the quality of the training programme.
The resource persons/experts who shared their views with the participants and covered different important topics included Dr JR Thappa (Professor), Dr Manu Arora (Assistant Professor), Dr Abhishek Chowhan (Consultant), Dr Rakesh Banal (Lecturer), Dr Rameshwar Singh (Registrar) and Dr Gurmeet Kour (Incharge, Drug De Addiction Center from Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, Jammu) and Deepika B Thakur (Deputy Director) and Risheesh Khajuria (Assistant Director) from J&K State AIDS Control Society and Pallavi Singh from SPYM.
The programme culminated with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
