JAMMU, Feb 24: Tourism Department is going to conduct major festivals in Union Capital and in winter capital of the State in the month of March in order to attract large number of tourists in all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
Secretary Tourism Department, Farooq Shah told EXCELSIOR that department is going to organize J&K Festival at Delhi Haat from March 1 to 15 wherein art, culture, cuisines and handicrafts of the State would be displayed. Moreover, the tour and travel operators of J&K would highlight the packages being offered by them so as to attract more and more tourists to all the three regions of the State.
Describing J&K Festival as a major event, Mr Shah said that such events promote tourism activities in large scale and already the events organized by the department in different parts of the country recently have started yielding results.
He further disclosed that from March 24 to 28, Jammu Festival would be organized by conducting events in different parts of the winter capital. During this festival, heritage, culture, cuisine and tourism spots of the Jammu region would be highlighted before the participants.
Even the tour and travel operators from different parts of the country would be invited during Jammu Festival so that they can play crucial role in bringing more tourists to Jammu region, Secretary Tourism said.
