Tourism Deptt urges travel agents to promote J&K

AHMADABAD, Feb 10: Continuing with its tourism promotional campaign, Department of Tourism Kashmir organised a seminar and press meet here in which over hundred travel agents from Gujarat and also media persons participated.
Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah in his address said that Gujarat is a big and traditional market for J&K, however, last year, the arrivals from Gujarat had seen a dip and to attract travellers from this State it was imperative to have interaction with the travel agents and other tourism professionals.
He apprised them about the new destinations and the services being offered in J&K.
He also held interaction with the Travel Agents Association (TAG) of Gujarat who attended the seminar.
He assured the members of the TAG of all cooperation from the department for organizing memorable tours for their clients visiting J&K.
Director Tourism also informed them about the newly developed resorts in the J&K and also about the Pahalgam Festival being organised by the department on February 17 and February 18 to attract  the tourists.
Director Tourism also inaugurated the Indian Travel Mart – Ahmadabad in which various tourism boards, leading tour operators and travel companies of the country participated .
In addition to addressing the media person where he highlighted the tourism potential of the J&K, the Director Tourism also interacted with heads of leading dailies from Gujarat which include the likes of Gujarat Samachar, Divya Bhaskar and Sandesh. He urged them to highlight the positive side of the Jammu and Kashmir, its culture, tradition, unique art and craft, rich hospitality besides beautiful landscape.
Local travel and hospitality sector from J&K also participated in the seminar and interacted with the members of TAG and promoted J&K’s tourism products.
The seminar was organised in collaboration with Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK) who appreciated the role of Tourism Department in organising such programmes in different parts of the country.
