Tourism promotion gets focused attention: Rana

JAMMU, June 22: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Saturday reiterated that the Coalition Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was committed to promote tourism and create adequate infrastructural facilities across the State.
Interacting with a deputation from Holy Town of Shiv Khouri led by Rattan Singh, Numberdar, Village Kotla, which met him and expressed apprehensions about the change of alignment of proposed opens to benefit a few capitalists, Mr Rana said that the holy shrine of Shiv Khouri is widely respected across the country and any decision regarding ropeway should be taken strictly on its merits and no other consideration should prevail.
Mr Rana said that pilgrim tourism has emerged as a key economic activity in Jammu region and assured the delegation that infrastructural activities at the holy Shiv Khouri Shrine will get further boost in the coming years.
He said that several areas of the Jammu region have been brought on the tourism map of the state and vigorous efforts are being made to develop and promote these on a larger scale.
The deputation included Bhram Saroop, Subash Sharma, Niab Sarpanch, Karan Singh, Mohd Hussain, Joginder Singh, Panch, Ashok Kumar, Joginder Singh, Subash Sharma, Ashok Singh, Kakki Singh, Sanjay Singh, Ch. Mohammad Hussain, Ch. Farooq, Ch. Asadullah, Ch. Bashir, Ch. Niaz  and others.
Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmad and ex-Legislator Th Kashmir Singh were also present.
