JAMMU, Aug 9: A toy shop was gutted today in a fire at Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu.
According to police sources, some locals noticed smoke coming out of Arora toy shop owned by Paraksh Chander son of late Jagdish Chander Arora, resident of House Number 497 A, in Gandhi Nagar area near Laxmi Narayan Temple at about 8: 40 this evening and informed the police as well as Fire Services Department.
“Two fire tenders from Fire Station Gandhi Nagar rushed to the spot and the fire was controlled within 20 minutes. However, the front portion of the shop was damaged in the fire and several toys were burnt completely,” sources said, adding no injury and loss of life was reported as the shop was closed due to weekend lockdown.
Sources further said that the fire broke out probably due to short circuit inside the shop. The loss occurred to the shopkeeper in the fire couldn’t be ascertained, he added.
Gandhi Nagar police had taken cognizance of the matter.
