JAMMU, Aug 10: Transport Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir, Rahul Sharma, today planted 75 saplings here at Trial Ground, Khanpur, Nagrota, under the “Meri Matti, Mera Desh” campaign.
A statement said that several officers and officials from Motor Vehicles Department, Forest Department, and J&K Police participated in the plantation drive.
After planting of the 75 saplings under the Vasudha Vandan programme, the statement said, the participants also participated in the Panch PRan pledge.
Addressing the participants, the Transport Commissioner said that such programmes aimed at instilling a sense of nationalism and inspiring the future generations to protect the cherished heritage of the country.
He said the campaign is a unified celebration of our soil and valour, commemorating the nation’s journey of freedom and progress by connecting with the land and honouring the heroes. He sought public participation in the campaign.
Earlier, the Motor Vehicles Department pasted stickers on commercial vehicles under the campaign. The stickers depicted “Meri Matti, Mera Desh,” “Mitti Ko Naman,” “Veeron Ka Vandhan” slogans.
Regional Transport Officer, Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra presented the welcome address while the proceedings of the function were conducted by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Esha Chib.
Assistant Regional Transport Officers (HQ), Rehana Tabassam; ARTO Board of Inspection (P), Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Flying Squad), Neeraj Sharma, SDPO Nagrota, Aakash Kohli, MVIs, SHO Nagrota besides various officials of MVD, Forest, and police were present on the occasion.
