UDHAMPUR, Apr 7: To ensure the victory of Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is contesting from Kathua-Doda-Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency with a big lead several meetings were held under the chairmanship of senior INTUC leader Som Nath at different locations of district Udhampur.
The first meeting was held at Jaganoo which was attended by a large number of people of the area while other meetings were held at Baishty, Bashat, Sudhmahadev, Mantalai, Bup-Sarar, Marothi and Latti.
Som Nath while addressing the meetings told the people that it was the golden opportunity for them to elect a national; leader of the stature of Azad as their MP who can develop his constituency to the full extent. Som Nath said in his stint as Chief Minister, the State achieved greater heights in a shorter span of two and a half years.
The Sarpanchs and Panchs of all concerned areas attended the meetings and assured their full support to Ghulam Nabi Azad. The campaign team comprised of Padamshree S P Varma, Sunil Badyal, Udhaybir Singh, Surinder Advocate, Ram Parshotam and Ashok Bakshi. All team members also stressed for greater victory of Azad while addressing the meetings.
The others who addressed the meetings were Sajad Hussain Sarpanch Pashat, Pritam Kumar Sarpanch Sudhmahadev, Faquir Chand Sarpanch Bup, Hem Raj Sarpanch Marothi, Balvinder Singh Sarpanch Mantalai, Akhtar Hussain Sarpanch Latti besides Mohd Rashid, Rashid Malik, Mohd Aslam Wani, Des Raj, Mohd Rafiq, Ali Mohd, Rattan Lal, Nazir Hussain, Maqsood Ahmed, Kewal Kumar, Parkash etc.
